At the AnimeJapan 2025 event, Aniplex released a trailer for the upcoming Tanzaburo Tojima Wants To Be A Kamen Rider series and revealed that Katsuyuki Konishi will be voicing the lead.
The series follows Tanzaburo Tojima, a huge Kamen Rider fan in his 40s who one day throws a plastic Kamen Rider mask on to try and take down a group of criminals robbing a convenience store. Expecting to be seen as a hero, the internet instead laughs at Tanzaburo but that doesn't deter him as he takes to the streets as a vigilante.
Katsuyuki Konishi will be voicing the lead, most known for his role as Kamina in 2007’s Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Kanishi was last seen in the Kamen Rider franchise voicing a number of roles in this years Kamen Rider Gotchard: Graduations. He also voiced a number of roles in the main Gotchard series and provided the voice for the main antagonist of the Kamen Rider Gotchard: The Future Daybreak movie as the Dark King.The upcoming series will be animated by Liden Films, known most recently for their work on Tokyo Revengers and Rurouni Kenshin. Series writer will be Tuoko Machida, who wrote 2012’s anime adaptation of Lagrange: The Flower of Rin-ne.
The Manga series is still ongoing, having started in 2018 as part of the Monthly Hero's Magazine before shifting to the Comiplex website. Creator Yokusaru Shibata is best known for their previous works Air Master and 81diver. Air Master received an anime adaptation in 2003 while 81diver had a live action series in 2008.The coming series is likely to be streaming via Disney+ on relese in the UK.
