Ultraman: Rising Director Shannon Tindle Reveals Sequel Currently "not in the cards"

Ultraman: Rising fans aren’t likely to be seeing a sequel anytime soon. This news comes from director Shannon Tindle via Twitter after a fan queried the chance of a follow up to the 2024 animated feature.

See the response below:

The movie released in June of last year to strong critical and viewer reception. Rotten Tomatoes has the critic rating sat at 86% while the viewer score skews higher at 92%. The feature won the award for Outstanding Visual Effects from the Hollywood Professional Association and was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the Annie Awards.

The last we had heard of a potential sequel to the feature was in October when Shannon took to the stage at the 2024 Lightbox Expo and told audiences he had already begun working on a potential sequel script titled Ultraman: Fallen.

While the news of Rising not getting a sequel any time soon is a let down for fans of the animated feature, the live action series recently saw the release of the Ultraman Arc movie, Ultraman Arc The Movie: The Clash of Light and Evil.

Ultraman: Rising can be seen on Netflix.
