Tsubaraya are gearing up to reveal the new Ultraman coming later this year.
With a teaser uploaded to the official Ultraman Youtube channel titled "When They Awaken" the video doesn't reveal the title of the coming season, though fans are confident it shall be titled Ultraman Omega per the trademark Tsubaraya filed in November of 2024.
Not much is shown of the new lead, but we do see a quick glimpse of their weapon. Flipping it in their hand, the weapon appears to be a slugger, a detachable boomerang some Ultramen have on their heads. The colour scheme for this Ultra is also hidden but rumours believe this Ultraman's design with be similar to Zearth, making a large portion of the suit red over silver.
Ultraman Omega (if that name is correct) will be following on from Ultraman Arc, which ended in January of this year. The series followed Yuma, a kaiju researcher who gained the ability to transform into Arc, a being of light based on Yuma’s childhood idea of the “strongest hero” after losing both of his parents when kaiju first emerged.
Ultraman Arc recently saw the release of a movie, Ultraman Arc the Movie: The Clash of Light and Evil. the film received strong praise from fans in comparison to the movie for the season prior, Ultraman Blazar. Reviews found of Letterboxd celebrated the themes of the film, though noted it was more episodic nature.
Unlike other tokusatsu series like Kamen Rider, the Ultraman franchise does not tease upcoming hero’s in their movie releases, meaning fans will have to wait a while longer to get a glimpse of Omega. But while those eager to see Omega will have to wait, Arc fans can hope for a chance of seeing their hero return to TV as previous Ultramen are known to appear in future productions, with Blazar having appeared in Arc’s main series in a team up episode.
