A teaser for season two of the Kaiju No. 8 anime has been released by the official TOHO Youtube channel.
Kaiju No. 8 follows Kafka, a worker in a kaiju cleanup crew who once vowed to join the Japanese Defence Force and protect his country from kaiju alongside childhood friend Mina. Kafka had failed to live up to his promise in the past until one day gaining the ability to turn into a kaiju himself and using his newfound abilities to rise up the ranks of the defence force.
The first season ended with Kafka earning his freedom by stopping his kaiju side from consuming Isao in battle. Kafka had been revealed to be a kaiju in hiding before being brought to meet Isao for a fight. The pair brawled as Kafka tried to prove his humanity until the kaiju within Kafka’s body took over and almost destroyed Isao, with Kafka barely doing enough to hold it back. Season two will continue from here, with antagonist Kaiju No. 9 still out in the world plotting the defence force’s takedown.
We have recently seen the release of a compilation movie for the first season ahead of season two’s release, accompanied by a special episode named “Hoshina’s Day Off”. The anime series adaptation is written by Ichiro Okouchi, best known for co creating the Code Geass franchise and handling the writing for 2022’s Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury.
Season two of Kaiju No. 8 is set to release in July via Crunchyroll.
