Super Sentai fans are excited as another legacy Sentai actor joins the Red Ranger Becomes and Adventurer in Another World cast as Kizuna Silver. The isekai anime is into its fourth week airing and had previously announced a large cast of former Super Sentai performers as part of its universes Sentai team.
The latest addition
is Mao Ichimichi, who Sentai fans would recognise as Gokai Yellow
from the 2011 series Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. Since starring in the
live action series, Mao has seen her career boom into voice acting
and worked in a number of popular franchises such as Sword Art
Online, Digimon, Gantz, Fire Force and That Time I Got Reincarnated
as a Slime.
Kizuna Silver was
seen in a flashback in episode 4 of the show discussing the
importance of nurturing relationships with others. After being thrown
through a window and almost drowning, Togo thought back to his
conversation with Silver before being revived. This conversation was
instrumental in Togo’s emotional grown by the end of the episode, with Togo specifically quoting her to his new companions.
Mao has joined the
team of former Sentai actors alongside GoBuster’s
Arisa Komiya (Yellow Buster) as
Kizuna Pink, Dekaranger’s Mika Kikuchi (DekaPink) as
Kizuna Yellow,
Megaranger’s Masaya Matsukaze (Mega Blue) as
Kizuna Blue and finally Hiroshi Tsuchida from Kakuranger (NinjaBlue)
as
Kizuna Green.
When the news of the all Sentai alumni cast was revealed, Kizuna Yellow, Mika Kikuchi said:
Isn’t there some kind of mistake? I’ve lived as a pink for 20 years, but I, Yellow!? I can’t help but feel a sense of discomfort when reading the script or the setting materials. Even during dubbing, I always end up following Pink with my eyes and missing the voice. I’m such a born pink, so I took on the challenge of playing Yellow.Translation from The Toku Source.
The series so far has received a positive reception from Sentai fans who have enjoyed watching Sentai tropes be comically lampooned. With instant transformations, mechs and needless background explosions alongside super poses, the show has lovingly centred these as new otherworldly magical abilities in a fantasy focused world.
Crunchyroll have been releasing subtitled episodes online simultaneously with the Japanese airing, giving those interested a chance to keep up week to week without falling behind. The series began on the 12th of January as part of Crunchyroll’s Winter 2025 lineup, with episodes releasing every Sunday following until series end.
