Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna to Finally get UK Blu-Ray Release

The 2020 animated feature Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna is finally getting a UK Blu-Ray release from AllTheAnime.

The movie released in Japanese cinemas on February 21st, 2020 and hit American home media in October of the same year. Originally planned to have a cinema release in American markets, screenings had to be scrapped due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Though the film has had a release in large markets, the UK were sorely missing out on being able to see the feature. This has all changed with an eventual release from AllTheAnime.

Releasing as a Blu-Ray and DVD collectors edition, the British release is up for pre-order on the store website with a discount for those that pre-order early. The set includes both Blu-Ray and DVD copies of the film, a special feature to celebrate 20 years of the franchise and a 24 page booket with artwork from the production. The film is presented in both English dub and Japanese dub with subtitles.

The movie focuses on the original Digimon Adventure cast as they make their way into adulthood and potentially have to say goodbye to their Digimon. With a timer appearing on their phones, the cast learn that the more they fight, the quicker the countdown will go. But how can the crew keep from fighting when other DigiDestined are at risk of losing their partners to a new threat.

A heartfelt ending for audiences of the original series and movie, Last Evolution Kizuna pulls at the heartstrings as it tackles a much more personal story for the kids as they prepare for adulthood. Fans of the original English dub will be happy to hear a large part of the original cast are back to reprise their roles, with the script including the classic "prodigious" dialogue quirks fans of the dub love and expect.

Though it took three years for Last Evolution Kizuna to hit UK shores, hopefully this pairing with AllTheAnime means that the Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning movie due to release in Japan later in the month will hit UK shores sooner than expected. AllTheAnime have pushed a lot of Anime movies to cinematic release, with Slam Dunk and Evangelion3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon A Time coming out most recently.

Set in 2012, the Adventure 02 movie will serve as a final to the 2000 series as Daisuke and the core cast enter their twenties. The film is set to feature a character that claims to be the first ever DigiDestined, named Rui Owada. Rui arrives before the crew holding a cracked DigiVice as they witness a large DigiEgg hovering in the sky. Marketing claims that the “secret behind the birth of the DigiDestined” will be uncovered in this new movie.

Pre-order for Last Evolution Kizuna is available via AllTheAnime now and comes at a discounted price until Thursday the 12th of October.
