A novelization for the first season of Ultraman will be releasing in
December of this year from Titan Books.
The official
novelization of the series is slated for a December 12th release date
both in the UK and America from author Pat Cadigan. While physical
releases of the much loved Japanese tokusatsu TV series don’t seem
to be reaching UK shores, a comic book series has been releasing
consistently from Marvel since 2020 and now it seems London based
Titan Books have also gained access to the licence.

The synopsis for the
288 page novel doesn’t specify how many of Ultraman’s original
adventures will be covered but it’s likely that large cuts will have to be
made in order to encapsulate the entire series arc. The description
for the novel reads:
“Pursuing
a fugitive space monster, a Being of Light enters Earth’s
atmosphere. Accidentally colliding with a patrolling jet, piloted by
Science Patrol Agent Shin Hayata, the Being merges with the pilot to
save his life and vows to defend the Earth.
Now whenever the planet is threatened by alien invaders,
terrifying monsters or any threat beyond the capabilities of
humanity, Shin Hayata transforms into the towering Ultraman to
restore peace and save the day."

An Ultraseven novel is also up for pre-order on Amazon
|
Though the Ultraman
novelization appears on the official Titan book website, another
listing for an Ultraseven novelization is currently on Amazon that
has yet to appear on the official Titan Books website. This
novelization of the Ultraman follow up series is scheduled for a March 12th
release in 2024 according to the listing and will also be
written by Pat Cadigan.
Author Pat Cadigan
has worked on previous novelizations of popular franchises, having written the
Alita: Battle Angel novelization along with a prequel novel titled
Iron City that released alongside the 2018 live action anime
adaptation. They has also worked on adaptations for the slasher
franchise Friday the 13th, writing the official novel for the 2005
summer slasher Jason X.

Titan Books are
also the official publisher of novelizations for the ongoing
MonsterVerse movies from Lionsgate. With four movies and an animated
series currently out, the MonsterVerse is due a new release later
this year in the form of Apple+ show Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.
It’s uncertain if
we will see more than these two initial Ultraman novelizations but
Tsuburaya have been working hard to get the Ultraman series into
internation markets over recent years. The franchise has an animated series on Netlfix, official blu-ray releases in America from Mill Creek and currently Tsuburaya are releasing new episodes of Ultraman Blazar internationally via Youtube.

Their official website is open to licencing deals from varying companies and this
has seen the release of an oficial Ultraman comic from Marvel Comics, an Ultraman costume for Fall Guys and now this official book release from Titan Books. There is still no word on an
official UK Blu-Ray release for the series but eager fans will be
happy to learn that the Mill Creek releases are region free and
import friendly.
